The Gaumukh Tapovan trek is a moderate to difficult high-altitude Himalayan trek that leads to the Gaumukh Glacier, the source of the Bhagirathi River (a headstream of the Ganges), and the alpine meadows of Tapovan. The trek typically spans 7 -8 days, covering a round trip distance of approximately 41-46 km starting and ending at Gangotri.

  • Fitness: Moderate to difficult; good fitness is essential.
  • Best Time: May to June, September to October.
  • Altitude: Reaches up to 14,203 ft (4329m) at Tapovan.
